Stop global warming to turn the tide on sea-level rise: UN Assembly President

The level of the sea globally is rising faster and higher than ever before creating what the United Nations has described as a “urgent and escalating threat” to people around the world.

The communities of thousands of tiny Pacific islands are the frontline gamechangers tackling the climate crisis, and a hub based in Micronesia now hosts more than a dozen UN agencies that together are helping address some of their most pressing needs as they battle existential threats like rising sea levels.

Millions of people around the world are affected by Down syndrome, a chromosome disorder. Each year, approximately 3,000 to 5,000 children are born with the condition which commonly affects, to varying degrees, an individual’s learning styles, physical characteristics and health.
