Ukraine invasion: Needs keep growing with cities facing ‘fatal shortages’

After a missile attack near the airport in Lviv in western Ukraine early on Friday, UN humanitarians warned that the situation across the country remains dire, as Russia’s military invasion continues.

February 24, 2023 marks a year since the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The people of Ukraine remain resilient a year since Russia’s 24 February invasion but “humanitarian aid is as necessary as ever,” according to the UN’s most senior official in the country.

As Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine nears its one year anniversary, the head of UN Political and Peacebuilding Affairs updated the Security Council on Friday, noting that the fighting and suffering continues “with no end in sight”.
