UN assisting thousands affected by Tropical Storm Ana in Mozambique

UN agencies are ramping up efforts to help communities in Mozambique hit hard by Tropical Cyclone Eloise, which barrelled through the country three weeks after the devastating Tropical Storm Chalane. 

Mozambique may have been spared by Tropical Cyclone Batsirai, but it is still reeling from the devastating impacts of Tropical Storm Ana. Humanitarians are continuing to support the country’s recovery, and the UN’s sexual and reproductive health agency, UNFPA is focusing on fortifying their services to support women and girls. 

Tropical Cyclone Freddy - which is threatening communities in Madagascar and Mozambique for a second time in as many weeks – could become the longest-lasting storm of its kind on record, the World Meteorological Office (WMO) said on Tuesday.
